Essential Oil vs Fragrance Oil

The Reason Why We Only Use Essential Oils...

Most of time in boutiques, the candles are made with fragrance oils. They may smell amazing, but can cause sometimes strong headaches for people who are extremely sensitive like me. A lot of people don't know exactly the differences between essential oils & fragrance oils.

#Essential oils and #fragrance oils are both used as a source of scent. However, they differ in terms of their properties and the way they are produced.

Essential oils are derived from #natural plant sources such as leaves, flowers, bark, and roots through steam distillation or cold pressing. They are highly concentrated and contain the volatile compounds that give plants their characteristic aroma. These oils are often used in aromatherapy and alternative medicine due to their therapeutic benefits. Essential oils are also used in perfumes, cosmetics, and cleaning products for their natural fragrance.

On the other hand, fragrance oils, also known as #synthetic oils, are made from synthetic materials in a laboratory. They are created to mimic the scent of essential oils or other fragrances found in nature. Fragrance oils are less expensive than essential oils and are often used in commercial products such as candles, soap, and air fresheners.

While both types of oils can be used to scent products, essential oils have a more complex #aroma profile due to the variety of compounds they contain. Fragrance oils are limited to the synthetic compounds that are used to create them. Essential oils are also considered safer for use than fragrance oils as they are derived from natural sources and do not contain any harmful chemicals.

In conclusion, essential oils and fragrance oils have their own unique properties and uses. While essential oils are derived from natural sources and have therapeutic benefits, fragrance oils are synthetic and are often used in commercial products for their affordability and ease of use. When selecting oils for personal use, it is important to consider the properties and potential side effects of each type of oil.
